tag:dreamwidth.org,2009-04-18:91311 rensreality101 rensreality101 2009-12-15T17:08:05Z tag:dreamwidth.org,2009-04-18:91311:32698 2009-09-03T19:50:31Z 2009-12-15T17:08:05Z Neighbors - The Academy Is uncomfortable public 0 <br />I am taking a break from fandom.&nbsp; <br /><br />I had this big long post composed with explanations and refrigerator metaphors but what it all comes down to is&nbsp;<strong><a href="http://alchemia.dreamwidth.org/10226.html">this graphic&nbsp;</a></strong>&nbsp;on <span style='white-space: nowrap;'><a href='https://alchemia.dreamwidth.org/profile'><img src='https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png' alt='[personal profile] ' width='17' height='17' style='vertical-align: text-bottom; border: 0; padding-right: 1px;' /></a><a href='https://alchemia.dreamwidth.org/'><b>alchemia</b></a></span>&nbsp;.&nbsp;<br /><br />This is not my fandom.&nbsp; Not what I want out of fandom, not what I can put up with from fandom.&nbsp; The graphic is bad enough, but the cheering in the comments afterward is even worse.&nbsp; As is the explanation for why it isn't really rape and is okay.&nbsp;&nbsp; I also hear echoes of&nbsp; the very common 'but&nbsp;she deserved it'&nbsp;in the responses to any poster critical of the&nbsp;drawing.&nbsp; (he or they in this case)<br /><br />This is appalling.&nbsp; This is not why I have a journal...or why I interact&nbsp;with fandom.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br /><br />So I figure&nbsp;a break from it all is a good thing for me.<br /><br /><br /><br /><img src="https://www.dreamwidth.org/tools/commentcount?user=rensreality101&ditemid=32698" width="30" height="12" alt="comment count unavailable" style="vertical-align: middle;"/> comments
